Solidarity

A socially responsible company

Group policy is to encourage each chain to play an active role as a responsible business with direct responsibility to the wider society. Socially-supportive initiatives are therefore encouraged and implemented at a national level in the form of donations of food or funding to charitable organizations.

Some examples...

In Portugal, each year the company provides its support to children, via 250 institutions. Through its Fondation Pão de Açúcar - Auchan, the chain also provides financial support for study grants and crèche amenities for the families of its personnel.

In Spain, Alcampo provides support to the underprivileged, through regular donations to numerous foundations, in particular Juan XXIII, Crecer Jugando, IUVE... The chain has received several awards for its strong social commitment.

In Italy, Auchan and Sma donated the proceeds of Rik & Rok product sales to fund a new reception centre for "Amici dei Bambini", a charity that supports children in care.

In France, Banque Accord The bank works with Crésus (Chambre régionale du surendettement social) to combat excessive debt and support those who find themselves in this predicament.

Furthermore, the Auchan Foundation for Youth provides its support to young persons in three areas: job creation, support (especially learning support), prevention and health (especially healthy eating programmes).

In Portugal, France and Spain, Auchan-branded products are labelled in Braille, for the convenience of blind or visually handicapped persons.

In France, over 1,400 food and non-food products benefite from this feature.
