To help customers adopt healthier eating habits and contribute to combating obesity, Auchan has embarked on its own healthy eating campaign, with the emphasis on France, Italy and Spain.
In France, stores have introduced a nutritional programme called Bien se nourrir pour mieux vivre (Feed good for better life), which is built around
4 key initiatives: a nutritional labelling system for its own-brand products, reformulated recipes for own-brand products, the promotion of fruit, vegetables and fish, and building children’s awareness with the Rik & Rok club and product range. In Italy, Auchan/Sma is the first chain to put nutritional information on the labels of own-brand products and on its web site at www.auchan.it.
To allow their customers to increase their buying power, Groupe Auchan chains are implementing a strong discount policy: a wide offering of “Pouce” budget products, GMO-free products, loyalty programmes, new forms of discount food retailing... For example, “Les Halles d'Auchan” in France or Simply Market supermarkets in Italy, France and Spain.
Bulk product sections are being developed, such as the Maxidiscount sections in certain Atac and Simply Market supermarkets or the self-discount sections in 228 hypermarkets in Europe: this concept groups the lowest-cost food products of each category into the same single section.
The products are sold in simplified packaging or in bulk.
The chains propose a wide range of products suited to all customer types and all budgets: major-brand products, budget, local products, SME products or Auchan-branded products with equivalent quality to the national brands but at more accessible prices.
In Italy, for example, Auchan hypermarkets propose an offering of 5,500 Auchan-branded products. These are spread across several ranges: regulated products, biological, regional savours, The lowest price.
